Yesterday was one of those days...It looked sunny and nice outside but open the door a crack and you knew it was a day to stay inside and read...So with the wind blowing off and on I did just that...Herb read, also kept the wood stove burning, did some laundry and otherwise we just had a lazier than usual day...Fixed some of our homemade soup from the cellar for dinner and ate the rest of the lemon pudding cake.
Write group today so Herb will decide what his dinner will be; A hotdog, hamburger, patty melt, soup, chili or what ever he wants to cook!..Hugs To All...OWAV:)

Umpteen Photos...45º
Yesterday morning with the sun partially hidden by clouds I snapped away trying to get a photo of the front of our house/yard with flowers blooming...In the past two days buds have opened to full fledged blooms everywhere I looked... Daffodils are the most predominate but the forsythia, bush apricot and "real" apricot have also come into full flowering mode...I'm always in awe of this sight and my photo's don't do it justice...But here are a few to give you a glimpse...Also we have tulips blooming...For some reason the deer have decided to eat elsewhere this spring.
It was warm enough in the morning to work outside so I tackled more weeds in the garden, added 4X4 boards at the edges to keep the soil where it belongs...Planted a row of mixed greens, lettuce, spinach, cilantro, parsley and chard.
In the afternoon I fixed oven fried chicken with a pan of roasted potatoes, onions and squash along with a lemon pudding cake...We invited Pam, Becky and John to dinner...Another good day...Hugs to All...OWAV:)

"Daffies, Grape Hyacinths and Primroses"...43º
Early morning, especially, the flowerbeds are beautiful as the sun hits the petals...The yellows, reds and purples brighten up the front yard...My photos don't do it justice so use your imagination...I worked outside yesterday and will do more each day trying to catch up after not keeping up with the weeds of last fall...Looks like a cloudy but nice day today, maybe a little rain...Hugs To All....OWAV:)

Cloudy, Saturday...44º
Yesterday sunny and warm....I worked in the flowerbeds and garden digging weeds, cleaning debris...Work awhile, sit on the deck for quite awhile...Then back to digging...I had started the sourdough early and came in to find it oozing over the edge of its container, saying, "I'm ready"...I poured the bubbling start into the mixer, added whole wheat, bread flour, salt and water, let it knead for about 12 minutes before leaving it to raise...I continued this process through the day...Weeding, sitting, reading, kneading, scrabble...After dinner I resorted to sitting and reading soaking in the sun, panning the bread, waiting for it to bake and permeate the house with its smell...It was a good day...Hugs To All...OWAV:)

Log Deck...37º
We were thankful for a little breeze yesterday as Herb used the chainsaw and I split and loaded the chunks of wood, using muscles that we had forgotten...The log deck is in a winter cow pasture so we have to dodge the "cow pies" as we work...Cows and their calves are curious when we first get there but soon move away from us to continue eating and then stretch out in the sun as they enjoy this beautiful spring day...Two hours later, we are loaded and headed home, feeling good that we are still able to get our own winters wood...Herb unloads the wood into our cellar and I soon have leftovers heating on the stove for our dinner...Showers taken we relax on the deck, snow covered mountains gleaming in the distance...We are blessed...Hugs To All...OWAV:)

Sunrise, sunshine, Sun...35º
Oh Happy Day...Flowers blooming, sun shining and wood gathering all in one...I finished my list yesterday except for bread making (put it off until Friday) but I added cookie making to yesterday morning...Haven't made cookies for months and it just seemed like the thing to do...Herb likes oatmeal cookies with lots of craisins, raisins and spices added, so I started with them...As they were baking I mixed up a batch of chocolate chip cookies and added oatmeal and peanut butter for a different taste...Made enough to share and some to freeze.
Met Pat at Arrowhead, where we sipped mocha's, talked, laughed and tried not to be too obnoxious to the people around us and we had lots to talk about....It was a fairly quiet day for them...Bruce came out to visit with us twice, bouncing his new ideas off of us...His mind is alway working.
At home I finished up the cookie baking, mixed up a meatloaf for our dinner, sat on the deck, read and played computer games until the sun went behind Chief Joseph Mountain...We have leftovers for dinner today so I will get busy with the normal routine of picking up before we get on our grubby clothes and go to the wood deck...Hugs To All...Enjoy Spring!...OWAV:)

Faint Sunrise...29º
6am and it is almost broad daylight...To bad that it will be several hours before it maybe is warm enough to spend time outside...A few things on my list today...Start a batch of bread...Pick a new bouquet of daffodils to brighten up the house...Meet Pat for coffee as she is leaving on a trip....Make a meatloaf for our dinner.
Herb mowed lawns yesterday and Thursday should be a good day for both of us to get a load of wood...Maybe by the weekend the garden and flowerbeds will be dry enough for me to start attacking the weeds and maybe plant a row of onions and lettuce.
Yesterday was Bobi's birthday...We sent love and wished her a happy day over FaceTime...How lucky we are to have such a beautiful, smart, funny daughter in our life....Hugs To All...OWAV:)
