Busy Day...20º

Janie, Pat and I watched "The King of Masks" one of the movies shown for the Big Read...Good movie, sad but with a good ending...It was spoken in Chinese and subtitled, which I really like...We munched on popcorn during the movie and had Pats delicious soup for lunch afterwards...As always good company, lots of laughter as we acquaint Pat to the ways and people of Wallowa County.

Back home, Herb, Rusty and I sliced, breaded and fried beef heart, mashed potatoes and made milk gravy for a dinner to share with John and Becky...All that cholesterol soon had us relaxing in the living room sharing stories and laughter to end another day.

John and Becky left for home and Becky was soon back at our door saying someone is stuck on your hill, so John is going to pull them out...Herb and Rusty were out the door to also lend a hand...Our Barton Heights hill is notorious for its mishaps during winter...A short, steep hill with a bank on one side and a steep drop-off on the other can be very scary...It is smart to have front wheel drive, four wheel drive, and/or studded tires all around...People have ended up crossways of the road, stuck next to the bank and over the steep drop-off...After living here for nearly 40 years we have the proper equipment to navigate it and don't think about how treacherous it can be to newcomers on the hill...All turned out well and one can hope that the new people will update their tires!...OWAV:)
