Catching up...41º

Warm days with a breeze, cooler nights...Smoke surrounds our valley, coming from a fire over LaGrande way...Herb and I spend our days keeping up with the gardens and yard, everything is growing like "weeds."

Over the past week we have picked huckleberries, Herb driving 100 miles round trip each time to our favorite picking spot...Pam and I do most of the picking and just happy that he goes along to drive...We always pack a lunch, lots of water and a ziplock with wet washcloths...The washcloths revive us after a morning of picking and we eat lunch and pick again, until late afternoon.

2nd day

When not picking huckleberries, I'm picking raspberries and bush cherries, the raspberries and huckleberries go into the freezer for jam and/or smoothies or cheesecake topping...The bush cherries are juiced and canned in quart jars to go on the cellar shelves and this winter will be added in when I make jam...It stretches the precious berries and makes jam for toast and pancakes.

Some warm afternoons we refresh ourselves sitting on the deck, sipping an orange julius, taking a well deserved rest...Hugs To All...OWAV:)
