More about gardening....49º

Working outside yesterday, in the cool of the morning, I added another layer of straw to the potato bed...Next, from my pile of well aged manure, I loaded the wheel barrow, and scattered it by the shovel full around all the potatoes that have really taken off this year...The last step was to give them a good soaking...For the next two months, we will water regularly and after they bloom, I will rob some new potatoes, for creamed peas and potatoes for dinner and in late September, they will be ready to harvest.

Soon this will be completely
covered with potato vines.

The rest of the day was spent puttering, weeding, and watering in the flower beds...We had a delicious elk steak dinner (thanks B & J), leftover potato salad and luscious greens from our garden...Then it was time to sit on the deck and enjoy the view...Early evening found me taking photos of he latest blooms...Hugs to All...OWAV:)

An annual "Shirley Poppy, that seeded
into the vegetable garden.

One of the deck planters, lobelia
sweet alyssum.
