August has arrived...08/01/11...5am...56°...Sunny

Quite often fall starts in August, here in the Wallowa Mountains of northeast Oregon... We've had about five days of summer so far this year, so I really hope that, that is not the case this year...The garden is just starting to produce, but we need warm days and nights to keep it going...A dandy thunder/lightening storm started last night about 9pm, not much rain just lots of crashing, booming and wind...I closed all of the west windows, in case of rain and went to bed...Didn't sleep well, awoke in the night, way too warm and having nightmares that just kept going...you know, the ones where you are screaming for help but no sound is coming out...I Hate those!..Up early this morning, opening windows to cool the house off for the day.

Yesterday afternoon was quiet, we had hamburger patties and lots of veggies for dinner, because I was to lazy to chop up all of the stuff for taco salad!..Then we had rhubarb pie for dessert...Pam and Becky stopped by on their way to see Becky's grandparents, who are visiting over the weekend...Herb fixed us Bloody Mary's, using his special recipe and we enjoyed a visit, while sitting on the deck!..Becky's summer is growing short, as her law school classes start on 08/22/11...Two more years to go.

Day lily

Had a late night chat with Bobi, we were both checking on the scrabble games, before going to bed...Ci is having a late birthday party this week...She has invited friends to spend an afternoon swimming at the local pool and ask that instead of gifts they donate to the animal shelter in her name...She has invited "boys" to her party for the first time, will be interesting to see if they come...hope it doesn't rain...Didn't hear from Russ so assume he is still feeling better and maybe went camping...Oh speak of the devil, he just chatted in.

That's about it from Barton Heights this morning, must head outside and work in the cool of the morning, see if I have any new day lilies blooming...Hugs to all...OWAV:)
