Monday Morning...08/28/11...5am...58°...Sunny

Sunny this morning, but cooling a little for the next few days...We had thunder and lightning throughout the night...a little rain, so we have that fresh rain smell, to start the morning...Ci and Bobi are still in bed, they were up off and on all night with Trixie, who is one nervous dog when it comes to the thunder and lightning.

Yesterday we walked, while Herb started a sausage and egg scramble for our breakfast...I mixed pie crust to chill and later made a mixed berry/apple pie to take to dinner at the lake home of friends Pat and Brian Adelhardt.

Berry/apple pie
We met Pat and Brian a year ago when we all volunteered at mule days...They are newbies to the county, moving here from Maryland...They have a "cabin" (a lovely remodeled home) at the head of the lake and spend many hours volunteering and attending events, becoming better acquainted with Wallowa County...Seems like Pat and I became friends almost at first sight...We talk and laugh nonstop when we are together, and enjoy a writing class and book group that we attend...Pat is a bubbly person with an infectious laugh and Brian a big guy with a dry sense of humor and many stories to tell...We shared drinks, dinner and stories with them on their deck, overlooking Wallowa Lake...Thank you Pat and Brian for a lovely evening...As we drove home the dark clouds loomed over Chief Joseph Mountain, a storm was brewing.

Today we plan to go to "the lake" and play the new miniature golf course that has been added this year...We have driven by it and it looks like something out of an exclusive resort in Cancun or Hawaii...While we are out and about we will stop to visit with Gramma Jane at Alpine house, maybe go to soroptomists, and we haven't been to the chocolate shop yet?..and slowly wind down as our "girls" prepare for their journey back to their home in Portland....Enjoy the day~OWAV:)
