Rain in the forecast...47º cloudy, possible rain.

Rusty worked outside most of the day, so many small projects, cleaning out, making space for winter...I was busy in the kitchen, prepping for a lasagna dish to eat later this week...Early morning he took a load of "stuff" to Soroptomists, then back here to gather leaves to chop for garden mulch...Scattering the mulch is my job, that and spreading manure...In the afternoon, he pulled our the carrots, and I rubbed off excess dirt and broke off the leafy tops...A full 5 gallon bucket of beautiful carrots is this years crop...I will clean them some more this morning before placing them in gallon ziplocks, nestled in a paper towel and stored in the crispers of the basement fridge, for winter eating...They are so sweet and crisp!

Now layer after layer of chopped straw, leaves, manure and sometimes alfalfa pellets, and peat moss are also added to each bed...After the final layer of straw, each bed is covered with fencing panels or mesh fencing to keep the quail from scattering it everywhere.

Since we had both been outside most of the day, dinner was whatever happened to be "leftover" in the fridge...Rusty did eat the extra Chinese food, (doggy bag) while I opted for the potato/corn chowder...It had been a very good day...Hugs To All...OWAV:)

Such lovely carrots.

If all in one bucket
a full 5 gallons.

2 beds done, 2 to finish.
