Antique Car

Another "Write People" adventure was on the calendar yesterday...Six of us met at the safeway parking lot to drive about 50 miles to "Cricket Flat" and the home of member Annette and her husband Kimber Kennedy...We've heard stories about this 600 acre cattle ranch, 8 miles off the main highway and through a couple of closed gates (to keep the cattle in)...The last half mile is rough as we traveled through 2 dry stream beds before we caught sight of a house, barn, garage and shop nestled among trees and lush fields, cattle grazing, wind blowing...Kimber and Annette greeted us from the porch and amid hugs and laughter we unloaded our contributions to the potluck lunch for later and Kimber took us on a tour of his "antique car barn" and well organized shop...We made ourselves at home in the spacious living room/kitchen to celebrate Annette's "hatty" birthday...Now Annette being a collector of hats instructed us to open the many hat boxes displayed and choose a hat to wear for the day...We were soon sharing stories, old and new...Then as noon approached, entrees were heated, salads tossed until the kitchen island was laden with our usual gourmet potluck lunch...I'm not sure what we, as a group do best...Is it our writing or our cooking that keeps us meeting each week!...Hugs to All...OWAV:)
