Yard Sales...57º

Early Saturday I pulled the sweet roll dough from the fridge to warm up before rolling it out, spreading it with butter, brown sugar and lots of cinnamon...Over the years that I worked in the school lunch program I made hundreds of cinnamon rolls, so it doesn't take much thought to complete this process and soon the rolls are raised, cooked and slathered with frosting...I deliver them downtown to our sorority booth where they will be sold to bikers and all the people who come to see the bikes... I meet Pat and Robin and we scour yard sales for the rest of the morning looking for that rare bargain...Had a great time, didn't buy much and I'm back home by noon and ready to ice my knee and stay inside where it is cool.

Later in the day Rusty and John arrived home hungry and tired after packing Sierra Clubers into the Minam, where they will work on trails for the next week...I have simmered a pint of elk meat with chili seasoning, garlic, onions then added leftover rice to fill corn tortilla's and make enchiladas...Also I have been simmering a jar of homemade chili and cumin, now I ladle this overtop the enchilada, sprinkle it liberally with grated cheese and zap it for 1 minute to melt the cheese...The "boys" devour the first one in the time it takes me to make each of them another...Full now they sit back and relate stories of the recent trip...Funny story is only 3 Sierra Clubers out of a possible 5 show up and they have brought ice water to pack in which of course is warm water by the time they arrive at the camping spot...The mules were a little leery of the sloshing water and ice in their packs.

Sunday we gathered garden produce, Maxine came for grape leaves (she is making Dolmas and will share her best recipes with Rusty and I as we have always wanted to try making these)...Afternoon was spent inside again and then we heated up the kitchen to oven fry chicken and roast all the fresh veggies from the garden...Potatoes, onions and zucchini and beets...Pam and John joined us for dinner and visiting on the deck.

Heard from our Portland "Girls" who are very excited because Bobi has a new computer and Ci gets the old one to start this first year of High School...AND the latest news is that Cienna made the varsity squad for water polo because she showed up for the opening picnic along with 7 other girls and they need 7 to make a team...Only time will tell what adventures this year will bring...Hugs to All....OWAV:)
