August 1, 2012...Busy day yesterday, Dusty arrived at 7am to work on the bathroom so Herb and I were up, dressed and out of there...Herb dug the garlic and I sat on my stool cleaned and piled it in bunches of 12 for him to hang in the lean-to shed...Then I went to Pat's for a shower and on to write group...Home about 2pm, very hot, Dusty left about 3pm and about 4pm a cool breeze came up and we sat on the deck for the rest of the afternoon...Pam joined us later so she could hear about our cruise...OWAV:)

July 24…We looked forward to our arrival  in Juneau today about 2pm…We pulled in as another Norwegian Ship pulls out leaving us a place to dock…Most of the people on board have signed up for shore excursions and will be departing the ship to explore the sights of Juneau…Shipboard feels like you are in the middle of a huge city, people, loud music and noise everywhere and we will be glad for the peace and quiet…Herb and I visited the duty free shops this morning and explored more of the ship…We found the bowling alley nestled in next to a "cave like bar"…The art gallery, spa's, gem shows and on and on…If you wish to spend money or have it to spend this is the place to come…For the most part anymore the cruise ticket pays your way to Alaska and the view of the scenery…It includes a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner that if it happens to be hot when you take it off of the buffet, it is cold by the time you find a place to sit down and eat…Most everything else costs extra.

I check my cell phone as soon as we dock in Juneau and with 6 bars showing I place calls to Bobi, Rusty and Pat…(Everyone else we know is working) It is good to hear familiar voices and find that every thing is okay in Oregon…Our bathroom is demolished!!

H and I relax the afternoon away in our quiet spot, having a glass of wine, watching the activities of the shore surrounding Juneau…Four float planes are continually coming and going as they give sight seeing flights…We read, visit with the "crew" as they have more time to talk, with only a few of us left on board…Later M and J join us to take in the view and then it is off to visit the buffets, have a final game of cards and call it a day.
