"Thanksmas 2012"...25º

The girls' arrived about 2:30 on Wednesday, bearing gifts...Herb had the tree up, presents wrapped and our house took on a festive air...It took awhile to unload their car....Food, gifts, Ginger the dog, laptops and luggage...Rusty and I had been slicing and dicing in the kitchen, Bobi added crab and soon we were dinning on our own version of crab nacho's and salad.

We opened Christmas gifts on this made to order "Allen Christmas Eve"...Our very own celebration...While other families are preparing for Thanksgiving and awaiting "Black Friday", we mesh the two holidays together and can now coast through December smugly repeating "Oh we've already celebrated Christmas"...Bobi and her family will have a family Christmas in December when Stan can join them back in Portland...Now for the most part we can enjoy Christmas programs here in Joseph at our leisure, no rush or stress, just a time for being thankful for the season and reminisce about how lucky we are to have a family celebration...Our Thanksmas menu was leg of lamb, mashed potatoes and gravy, brussel sprouts, salad and chocolate cake...Pam joined us for dinner and conversation.

The next few days will find us in the kitchen, cooking, eating, making candy, playing cards or in the living room updating computers, comparing our Angry Bird scores and at times reminiscing about Christmas's past...The years we went to the woods to cut our own tree, went sledding with Gramma and Grampa Allen, wore fake noses as we opened presents with Gramma Blanche and soooo many more....Hugs to All....OWAV:)
